Marjorie Lazarre

Marjorie Lazarre received her doctoral degree in Pharmacy from Howard University in Washington, DC.  She completed a pharmacy practice residency at Yale New Haven Hospital in 2001 and went on to attain her Master’s in Business Administration from the Isenberg School of Management at the University of Massachusetts Amherst.

Dr. Lazarre has served in numerous leadership roles within pharmacy for over 15 years, with service primarily at Yale New Haven Hospital, and previous experience as a Director of Pharmacy at Mount Washington Pediatric Hospital.   She has had oversight of many different areas  at YNHH within the pharmacy, including pediatric clinical services, medication reconciliation implementation in the emergency department, information technology, 340B program optimization, pharmaceutical purchasing, billing and fiscal management.  

Dr. Lazarre currently serves as the Associate Chief Pharmacy Officer & Executive Director of Pharmaceutical Business Innovation, and is responsible for advancing YNHHS strategic objectives with a focus on all aspects of pharmaceutical procurement, expense, revenue cycle and 340B program. Additionally, she oversees all associated compliance measures,  Specialty and Retail Pharmacy business lines.

She is active locally and  nationally in pharmacy as well as healthcare organizations, including Connecticut Society of Healthcare Pharmacists and 340B Health.  She is a member of the Vizient Business Council, BD Advisory Board and Marcrohelix Advisory Board. Dr. Lazarre has presented at Yale University School of Management, 340B Health Coalition, American Society of Healthcare Pharmacists, Connecticut Society of Healthcare Pharmacists and Lawson Infor Annual meetings.  She has presented on topics such as Pharmaceutical Purchasing Workflow Optimization, CMS Regulations related to Meaningful Use, Utilization of Information Technology/Automation to Optimize Pharmacy Efficiency, Pharmacy Diversity Panels and a variety of other topics.

Dr. Lazarre pursued a career in pharmacy to help educate patients and families on how to better understand, advocate and choose their medication therapies.  She knew this all too well, as her sister was diagnosed with Type I Diabetes. She wanted to better support her sister and family in understanding the treatment options available.  After she completed her studies in pharmacy, her and her husband welcomed three children.  Ava her eldest child was diagnosed with Type I Diabetes at 7 years of age.   She continues to support her family and hopes to use her power both professionally and personally to support others in their Diabetes journey. She is a serving Board Member and Clinical Trials Education Volunteer for the Greater CT and Western MA Chapter of JDRF.
